The Rubian process simultaneously generates annatto oil rich in tocotrienol – which is part of the vitamin E family – and defatted seeds, with a loss of less than 0.01% bixin concentration for subsequent extraction of dyes, without accumulation of residues or solvents. One example of a patent that became a company, thanks to technology combined with the entrepreneurial spirit of students, is Rubian, a company focused on health and well-being, conducting research on high-quality plant extracts.

The search for new products, especially those based on Brazilian biodiversity and with high added value, is what led the Rubian startup to close the second technology licensing contract with Unicamp. The company licensed an extraction process applied to passion fruit pulp, focusing on obtaining various bioactive compounds for application in the cosmetics segment.

High performance, safety, and sustainability are highlighted in Rubian's plant extracts. With benefits associated with skin aging, cardiovascular activities, and obesity combat, the obtained products are biodegradable and not harmful to the health, as they do not use toxic solvents.
